Frequently Asked Questions

What’s HelloSamples?

HelloSamples has been clearly a beatmaker focused place, but we are sampler fanatics, synth addicts, Rhodes lovers, CV explorators… So, everyone interested in electronic music experimentation is invited to take a trip and explore our site!

This adventure began back in 2010 when we started up a blog focusing on MPC kits. With a basic web design knowledge we started to build the site and the beta version site began to run. Soon we added versions for Maschine, Ableton and finally we came with our first PREMIUM libraries.

Today we are proud to say we have brought more than 100,000 free downloads for you, several Premium Kits for Maschine, Ableton, MPC, presets for the Moog Sub 37, TE OP-1… but this is just the beginning.

How can I download the free sounds?

There are some free packs spread all across the site.
You will easily find out there is a sort of trickery-game behind them. wink

You will need to follow some steps in order to collect all of them

Basically you will need to do things like subscribe to our newsletter, follow us on Instagram or answer a questionary.

Those may seem stupid steps, but since we are just a few musical geeks running this humble project, we ask you to let us talk to you via email, and we trully grateful if you support the project by following us and spreading our work in your social networks.

Just be part of the community and download.

Easy!

Can I use the free samples on my own projects?

Yes indeed! Our free sounds are 100% ROYALTY FREE.
Use them in your musical productions, no prob. Use them in your commercially released tracks and go #1 on the charts, it’s all good!

Keep in mind the license is strictly for musical/score compositions. Our sounds can’t be used to build new sound packs nor be part of a third party app/software instrument. If you are a professional sound library company or software developper wanting to use our sounds please contact us and we will happy to agree on a solution.

What’s the license used in the Premium Libraries?

HelloSamples is the owner and master licenser of all the products for sale on www.hellosamples.com. Purchasing any of these products gives you a lifetime, non-exclusive right to incorporate the sounds in any musical production.

Keep in mind the license is strictly for musical/score compositions. Our sounds can’t be used to build new sound packs, programs or patches for any sampler, sample playback unit, website or computer nor be part of a third party app/software instrument. If you are a professional sound library company or software developper wanting to use our sounds please contact us and we will happy to agree on a solution.

Finally, understand that this is a very little company. We balance this handicap putting a lot of efforts and love in what we do. Uploading our PREMIUM sound libraries to cloud storage services and spreading the links in warez communities is a way to slow down our work and discourage us to continue doing it. We hope you’ll understand.

Are the samples compatible with my sampler?

We normally bring kits programmed for Ableton, Maschine, Kontakt or Akai MPCs. Our Premium Sounds are usually delivered in 44.100Hz – 24Bits. We know some of you have 16 bit hardware samplers. Feel free to use any batch converters to convert our samples to 16 bit.

I loaded your Kontakt instruments but I can't make them play and a "demo" image shows inside Kontakt. Why?

Our Kontakt instruments are programmed to only play with a full Kontakt licence.

The free Kontakt Player is a light version of Kontakt that’s designed to only play sample libraries that license this software from Native Instruments. These libraries are usually referred to as “Player” libraries, compared to “non-Player” libraries which don’t license the free Kontakt Player.

The primary reason that some libraries license the Kontakt Player is so that users don’t need to own the full version of Kontakt to use the library. Due to the cost associated with licensing the Kontakt Player, it’s uncommon for free and inexpensive sample libraries to license the Kontakt Player. If you load our instruments inside the free Kontakt Player, it will appear in a time-limited demo mode.

However, the full retail version of Kontakt can play both Player and non-Player libraries. It also offers additional features such as being able to edit instruments as well as create your own instruments—a useful option even if you only need to quickly map a few samples to make a playable patch.

If you’re unsure which version of Kontakt you have, it’s easy to check. The full version of Kontakt simply has the text “KONTAKT” in the upper left corner of the interface, while the free Kontakt Player displays “KONTAKT PLAYER” instead.

I haven't received my download links after the purchase. what can i do?

If you haven’t received email confirmation for your purchase there could be a number of reasons for this. First we strongly recommend checking your spam folder as sometimes our emails may be mistaken for junk mail. Also make sure you have used the right email address when ordering. If all else fails feel free to contact us and we will reply back with them.

How can I download my libraries again?

Corrupt external hard drives, dropping milk over your computer… we’ve all lost files in some point of our lives. Since there’s an expiration date set to all download links, you can send us a message through our contact form with your purchase e-mail address, and we’ll provide you with new download links right away so you can keep on making music!

Why can’t we add VAT to the price?

Since January 1, 2015 changes have been made to the VAT policies (value-added tax) in the European Union. Before 2015, VAT was based on the location of the business, and it was easy to maintain a healthy and ordered fiscal tracking.  But now VAT  will be based on the location of the customer, complicating our fiscal endeveours a lot.

That’s why we rely on Fastspring to sell our products. They take care of VAT at the end of the purchase and help us focus on doing what we love:  making sounds
